Mercure Greenwich Hotel, London, UK
The Mercure London Greenwich Hotel is a 4* hotel located in a former police “section house.” Featuring a classic, 1940s design by McMorran and Whitby Architects, this building was re-opened as a hotel in 2013, and still boasts many of the site’s original features.
Melissa Electrical were approached by the hotel's owner to create a unique lighting design that would make the building instantly visible and recognisable. A strong visual "brand" would need to be created, in an attempt to create an iconic local landmark.
Our solution was to create an external lighting display. In tandem with a team of lighting installers, we created a system which lights the building's whole exterior in a range of colours. These colours can then be changed by hotel staff with the hotel's existing dimmer system, negating the need for time-consuming training sessions.
Our design team agreed on the use of the following products:
RGB Interex (acdc lighting)
Cold Cathode (acdc lighting)
Working alongside acdc lighting, our design team delivered exactly what the client was looking for – an eye-catching, iconic exterior lighting design that's sure to turn heads for years to come.
